Weather permitting, I'll be at Wingra at 4:15 on Thursday to start a
~45 minute to 1 hour swim. Who's game?

Does anybody ever meet to swim on Saturday or Sunday mornings?

I'm about a 62-minute ironman swimmer looking for company.

I am new to triathlons and am going to try a few sprints this year. I
haven't done any open water swimming yet and am wondering what your
group is like. Where/how far do you usually swim on these Mon. and
Thurs. swims? I would love some company while swimming but I am very
much a beginner and not very fast. Thanks, and maybe I will see you
soon.

The group is very informal. In years past, there have been some
regular swims. Nothing regular has gotten rolling yet this year. When
it is regular, there's usually a variety of folks and skill levels.
I'm about a 2 min/100 yard swimmer, sometimes slightly faster,
sometimes slightly slower. There's a couple of people that I think are
coming this Thursday, not sure what speed they'll be doing. Generally,
people kind of pair up, or at least just keep a heads up for each
other.

This swim is at Lake Wingra - starting just to the left of the beach
(as you're looking at the lake). It's fairly weedy if you go straight
out from there, but less so if you start from the actual beach. So, as
long as the beach isn't open yet, I'll probably move over to the beach
to start. I intend to swim across the lake towards the tallest tree on
the other side, turning around when either the weeds get too thick or
I hit a certain time (to be determined based on what time I actually
get in the water).

The LUNA Chix bike ride follows at 6:00 - which is a 16 mile no-drop
ride for women. All females are welcome to join in that, too.

Wow, thanks for the reply! I guess my one other question would be;
how is the temperature of the lake right now? I don't own a wetsuit
so I am hoping the water will be okay for just a regular swimsuit. I
have seen some kid playing in the water on warmer days, but sometimes
they can be oblivious to the cold :).

I was out on Sunday and a guy in a boat said the water temp was 69.3,
(and depth was 7 feet) - near the middle straight out from the beach.
You could probably go without a wetsuit, but that's a personal
preference. There are some small cold pockets out there and I bet
they are a couple degrees colder, but are tolerable (annoying?).

Thanks for the info! I suppose it's worth a try, right.
