One of my hens has no feathers on her but area, just pink skin. Does
anyone know what causes this?

My hen had diarrhea and lost all her butt feathers. I put her on a
course of anitbiotics (& avoided her eggs) and it cleared up and she
regrew the feathers.
I've also had bare butts during molt, but I think we're a month away
from this.

Half my flock has been like this all summer. No one has had diarrhea.
Everyone seems healthy. It was like they started to go into molt early
in the year, and some of the feather came part way in and the birds
got half way into it, and then just stopped. Like they never finished
the molt cycle and have been at the half way point with bare butts and
half grown in feathers all summer long. I've never seen anything like
it.

My story is the same as Donna's. Three of my birds lost their feathers on
their rear-ends in February or so. I posted to the list and got lots of
great suggestions as to what it could be (fleas/ticks seemed the most likely
culprit). I treated everything I could but their butts stayed bare. They
have been fine ever since, they just look a little funny. I'm hoping that
this fall when they molt that their feathers will grow back like normal.
(Otherwise winter will be a little drafty for them.)

You can look back at past posts to see what others suggested and thought
about my situation.

Best,
Tessa

I've sat down with everyone of my girls, and checked them over meticulously (they are very tame).  I can't find a bug one on them. No lice, fleas, ticks, mites. Nothing.
Like yours, they started molting around Feb. and it's like they just never finished the molting cycle. It's the darnedest thing.
