What's the female equivalent of they have us by the %@$$s?

What's the price for AccountEdge? $299, and it includes payroll.

B.S.!

If you want a years worth of payroll tax tables you have to pay an
additional $249. No choice. (You also get support and next years
upgrade. If you want to print the payroll forms, you have to pay an
additional $79. Then next year you have to do the same thing again.

To get started with AccountEdge, it really costs $630, to get the whole
payroll package for the first year, and it will cost you $330 each
additional year (at current rates) to keep using it. $330 for govt
defined tax tables, govt designed forms, support you wouldn't likely
need if they would include decent tutorials (which they will also be
happy to sell to you) and next year's upgrade. That's it, no other
choices. And they charge more for any efiling, direct deposit, etc.,
ect..

QuickBooks is even worse, Mac or PC.

Let's see; they'll probably start offering 6 hour training sessions for
$400 next.

All accounting software charges for payroll service or tax table
updates. The $249 includes complete support as well as an upgrade and
all payroll changes. I fell this is a bargain, and I like the be sure
I have the latest. It's like insurance.

If you're daring - change your taxes on the fly on each paycheck. At
least MYOB Lets you do that. QB locks you out of the whole darn module
after awhile!

Cookie,

I'm sure you know that the only choice for getting tax tables from MYOB
past the first 30 days, is to buy the $249 support plan. This is
required and is the only choice to keep using all the included payroll
features accurately, unless you want to do it manually. Why bother to
have them at all if you want to do it manually?

If you are happy paying $249 30 days after just paying $299, well good
for you. I'm not. I think the first year of tax tables should be for
free, and that a very modest fee should be charged (if at all) for tax
table updates beyond that.

Yes, there are other companies that don't charge for tax table up
dates, support is free, and upgrades are modest ($60 per year, or $100
for two years). Total package cost $495. You never have to pay for
another thing if you don't want. www.turtlesoft.com

I want to share a "rumor" I heard from a very reliable source:
a) MYOB is exploring options for making the tax tables more affordable
b) persistence pays off

Those of you associated with other MYOB/AccountEdge lists/groups, feel
free to spread that rumor, and also consider writing to MYOB asking for
the first yea's taxtables to be free (ie included in the price) and ask
for the payroll forms to also be included (what good is payroll without
the forms). If you do this, perhaps MYOB will change (some more), and
you AccountEdge will give the Intuit virtual monopoly a run for their
money.

BTW: This makes me feel much better about MYOB, and their
responsiveness to customers. If you don't ask, you likely won't get it.
