Hi MV Chess Players,
Happy 2nd Day of Summer — hope you’re all getting a little sunshine between games.

We’ve already had a great month:
- One formal meeting at Norman Murray
- One online tournament
- One Chess in the Park meetup
Huge thanks to Leah and Carlos for keeping the momentum going. Even with everyone’s busy schedules, turnout has been strong and the energy has been great.
♟️ What’s Coming Up
There’s a rumor floating around that Luke and Leah are cooking up an in‑person tournament. Keep an eye out — this could be a fun one.
Our next formal meeting is Tuesday, July 7, from 5:30–8:00 pm at Norman Murray. Go ahead and mark your calendars. As a small summer bonus, everyone who attends will get one of our brand‑new MV Chess Club stickers (pictured below - stickers will be round though). These may be valuable one day!
♟️ New Gear
I picked up five new clocks for club use. I may not haul them to every casual meetup — they get heavy — but they’ll definitely be available for tournaments. We also have new participant pins and awards ready for future events.

If you’d like to set up a Chess in the Park, Chess & Pizza, or any other casual meetup, just let me know. You can also send me a short write‑up, and I’ll forward it to the group. Then all you have to do is show up and enjoy the games.

We’re still on the lookout for a regular, permanent spot for casual play — a restaurant, library, community room, warehouse (kidding… mostly), or anywhere with tables and a friendly atmosphere. If you have a connection or an idea, I’d love to hear it.
