To One and All:

Not too much happened Rugby wise this past weekend since the season is over for a lot of Clubs, and most of the ones in Championship play don't have a match until this coming weekend or later.  With that being said I'll have all the details of the Men's DI, DII, and DIII Championship play on my site on each respective page by late tomorrow, or early Wednesday.

What else is coming up . . .

Our Women's Thunderbirds Team is playing the Pacific Territory All Stars on Sunday the 15th of May in Eagan Community Center in Eagan, MN, http://www.midwestrugby.org/eagancommunitycenterdirectionsmapsandlodging.htm.  I'll have the roster posted just as soon as I get it, http://www.midwestrugby.org/womensthunderbirds.htm.  The Lady Thunderbirds already beat the Northeast All Stars 29 to 17 . . . I think that's a first in something like four years . . . congratulations to all the Team members, and the Management Staff.

The Minnesota Valkyries have two Developmental Clinics coming up . . . the first, Clinic 1, is this coming weekend from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with the Valkyries playing against the Minnesota Menagerie starting right after the first Clinic at 11:00 AM, and then Clinic 2 is on the 21st of May from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with the Valkyries playing against the Chicago Women starting right after the second Clinic at 4:00 PM.  Both Clinics are for Collegiate Women and High School/U19 Gals.  The Clinics will be held at Eagan Community Center (link above).  If you're a Collegiate Women's or High School/U19 Girls' player and want to learn more about Rugby to raise your level of play go to the Clinics!  For more details go to http://www.midwestrugby.org/valkyriesclinics11.htm.

If you're a Collegiate Men's Player, Coach, and/or Rugby Enthusiast don't forget the MW Collegiate Men's All Star open tryout weekend.  It is this coming weekend, the 14th and 15th of May, at the Moose Rugby Grounds, http://www.midwestrugby.org/08mooserugbygroundsdirectionsmapsandlodging.htm, in Elkhart, IN.  If for no other reason than to have the experience under your belt, as a Collegiate Rugby player, GO . . . don't worry 'bout makin' the Team . . . give it a shot . . . both the Chicago Griffins Coaching Staff and the Chicago Lions Coaching Staff will be there helping out, plus, a few of their Super League players will also be there to help in advancing your game as a Collegiate player . . . they will also be there recruiting the guys.  The Camp will start at 11:00 AM on Saturday the 14th . . . be there!  Ron Bowers, bow...@osurugby.com, is the Head Coach, Backs Coach, and the Manager of the MW Collegiate Men's All Star Team . . . Jared Moore, tigh...@zoomtown.com, Head Coach at Miami University, is the Forwards Coach and General Assistant of the MW Collegiate Men's All Star Team . . . contact either with any questions you have or for more information.  All Collegiate Men are invited!

Don't forget that our Collegiate Men's Division I Clubs, Bowling Green State University and Davenport University are in the USA Rugby Collegiate Men's Division I Championship Final 4, and those matches start on FRIDAY the 13th of May . . . yikes, Friday the 13th . . . oh boy . . . wink, wink.  Click on the following link for more information, http://web.usarugby.org/cgi-bin/viadesto/championships/show.pl?competitionId=217 . . . good luck to both, and we hope that both Clubs end up in the Championship match on Saturday at Steuber Rugby Stadium on the Stanford University campus in Stanford, CA, http://classic.mapquest.com/mq/7-ZYRgqilK5ULKcH_l.

Starting early in June are all the Summer Venues, http://www.midwestrugby.org/11summervenues.htm, which I need to finish, and make a few corrections on dates of certain Venues.  Then there's the Midwest Sevens Series, http://www.midwestrugby.org/11sevensseriesvenues.htm, which has links to most of the Tournaments, and goes all the way through to the USA Rugby Sevens Championship Tournament on the 6th and 7th of August . . . looks like a ton of Rugby fun this summer.  All the Sevens Series Tournaments and dates of those are set.  If I don't have your Flyer, or basic information yet, or don't have your Tournament listed, get in touch with me as soon as you can, MTR...@gmail.com, or call me, 618-829-3806.

The Wisconsin Old Boys, the VOMITs, are looking for a match this May . . . they will host or travel.  Contact Marc Kennedy, marcken...@yahoo.com, if you're interested in getting your Old Boys out for a match before it gets too hot, and for a lot of fun and camaraderie.
