To One and All:

Getting this out a day sooner than last week . . . still two days late. All the results I have are listed below, which are numerous, and most Midwest League matches are on my website too . . . enjoy . . .

Coach Wanted . . .

The two Clubs I mentioned last week looking for a Coach are still looking . . . to see more, and to contact one, or both go to http://www.midwestrugby.org/wanted.htm.

Another Club looking for a Coach is the Lewis University Men's Rugby Club. The Club is already playing in the CARFU Collegiate Men's Division II League, and this is their first year as a full member of CARFU. The University is located in Romeoville, Illinois, which is just a hop skip and jump from Chicago, i.e., about 25 miles southwest, just a bit west of Lemont, and right across the Des Plaines river from Lockport. The Club has it's own pitch, complete with goalposts, on the main campus. It's a mid sized Catholic University. Bedcheck Charlie, a WWII Ace, is the mascot of the Lewis University 'Flyers'. The President and primary contact for the Rugby Club is Ryan T. Bulfin, bulf...@lewisu.edu, (C) 773-430-9744. The Club has about 30 guys coming out on a regular basis, and they practice 4 times a week, with two days strictly being ball movement, conditioning, and weight lifting in our rec-center. They would want a Coach there twice a week when they practice on their pitch and be there for game days which are always on Saturdays. They say they are desperately in need of a coach.

Boy are we missin' out on a match next year . . . did you all hear about New Zealand not coming to the USA for a October Bledsoe Cup match next year? Yep, it's true . . . and to go along with that Australia wants too much money, and Japan has made huge financial offers to all involved . . . uh except us . . . wink, wink.

On the Youth front . . .

I was informed that there is at least one high school in the Midwest, in Grove City, Ohio, to be exact, that has dropped football due to the financial strain. The only thing that didn't set well with me is that there isn't any mention of the high school Rugby Club . . . not even in one of the 17 comments . . . dang. Keep checking with your local high schools on the possibilities of one or more in your area dropping football due to the expense. The financial situation will be an ongoing issue for some time to come, and if a school does drop football it only makes sense to present the possibilities of Rugby filling that void.

Some of you got me scores sooner than I expected, which is GREAT, but there still are Clubs out there that don't even promote their own game . . . that's too weird for me since I come from a background of football where you wouldn't even contemplate NOT sending in a score to the local paper, and everyone else that is in the business of promoting the game. Help our/your game grow, and send me results by Sunday. Assign a Media Person to get results out to every source you know of . . . promote your game.

I would like to thank all the Referees that sent in their results on Saturday and Sunday . . . I hope we continue to make progress on that front.
