To One and All:

It's another late Thursday, but we all know that every day is a Rugby day, right . . . right . . . text your scores to me at 618-780-0589, or call me on that number, or e-mail me, MTR...@gmail.com . . . promote the game, your game . . . hope you're week is going at least as great as mine.

I haven't had time to tear down the PDFs on the new USA Rugby policies on Sanctioned Venues, but . . . in Rugby Magazine there's an interview with Jennifer Cope, USA Rugby's Chief Financial Officer, http://www.rugbymag.com/news/off-the-field/usa-rugby-news/5978-tournament-sanctioning-raises-questions.html . . . um, what the heck is the Chief Financial Officer doing giving all the details on Sanctioned Venues . . . short of makes you wonder if it's not all about finances doesn't it, in my opinion anyway! It's still a pretty good way to get your head wrapped around what USA Rugby is doing and what they are, more or less, requiring any Host to have a USA Rugby Sanctioned Venue. I'm still going to have the most important PDFs broken down into web pages on my site for easy access. You can also get a start on knowing what the 'new' policies are all about by going to this link, http://www.usarugby.org/#cc%3D%5BApplication%5D%5C%5CStructure%5C%5CContent%5C%5CBrand%20Resource%20Center%5C%5CContent%5C%5CHome%5C%5C23181D59-139B-B79A-82D5-BA880D76B6AF%7B%7BTab%3AView%7D%7D . . . some of the 'new' policies are actually very old, and have been on the books for years . . . USA Rugby has decided to introduce them once again, along with several new points, to make sure we're all aware what USA Rugby will cover, especially if any of us should ever get sued, and what each Host must do for USA Rugby to Sanction said Venue. It may be very difficult for any one of us to get a copy of what USA Rugby will cover in the way of insurance policies, i.e., Liability and Health, because I know of a few people that have asked for those documents, and they are still waiting for them. If you, your Club, or organization is Hosting a Rugby Venue in the near or distant future you need to read all you can about USA Rugby Sanctioned Venues. Make sure to read the 'Indemnification' clause at near the bottom of the Rugby Magazine article . . . sort of gives USA Rugby an out if there's anything the Host didn't follow through on, which may include some of the 'suggestions' USA Rugby has stated for Hosting a Sanctioned Venue. Is there another way? Yep, it's not a simple way, but a Host can always get a Waiver form of their own, and have everyone attending their respective Venue signoff on the Waiver . . . it would have to be detailed just for that particular Venue, and I'm not even sure if that would be worth it. Stay tuned, and I'll attempt to keep you all informed on how far USA Rugby is taking the 'new' policies on Sanctioned Venues.

Have you seen the new USA Rugby Calendar on Playoff and Championship Dates, http://www.usarugby.org/#goto/Championships? If you are part of Collegiate Women's Club, Division I and II, be aware of the fact that the playoff for each Division is going to start on the 12th of April . . . are we, here in the Midwest, going to be out of the snow by then, and even if we are how in the world will those Clubs be ready for a National Championship Playoff Tournament? Oh yea, the guys don't start until the 27th of April, which is sort of the normal time frame . . . too weird for words if you ask me. I sure hope all the Collegiate Women's Clubs that will be in the hunt for a National Title find a way to get ready for the early start date, and I'm sure all the MW Collegiate Women's Clubs will be at a huge disadvantage to those Clubs around the country that are in the 'fair weather' areas unless they find ways to get in Rugby shape in the snow, have enough money to rent indoor facilities, or convince their respective University Administrators to let them use the school's facilities . . . yep, it's completely whacko.

Don't forget to get me your Conference, and/or League website if your Club is a Collegiate Club, and I don't have it already listed below with all the scores. Not enough of the 'new' Collegiate Conferences/Leagues have websites . . . yet. This fall's competition is almost over, and we've left a huge gap in promoting our game due to lack of websites for a bunch of Collegiate Conferences. It's like where are the parents going to find out all the results in a Conference and where do they go to see the Standings . . . not only are parents in the cold, but also all the fans, and Rugby Enthusiasts in general.

It's Friday night, late Friday night . . . too much regular work this week to get this out sooner, and I apologize . . . please keep texting your scores to me at 618-780-0589, or call me on that number, or e-mail me, MTR...@gmail.com . . . promote the game, your game . . . hope you're week has gone at least as great as mine.

I've put together the 'new' USA Rugby Event Sanction Agreement, http://www.midwestrugby.org/usarugbyeventsanctionagreement12.htm, which is also in a PDF . . . just click on the Adobe PDF logo in the upper right-hand corner to get that. I also put together the USA Rugby Sanction Application, http://www.midwestrugby.org/usarugbysanctionapplication.htm, which is a form you'll want to take a look at and fill out IF you're Hosting an Event that you want under the USA Rugby umbrella. If you and your Club is Hosting a Venue make sure you get into the details of USA Rugby's Event Sanction Agreement, and get into all the details of USA Rugby's Sanctioned Events . . . the link for that is at the bottom of the USA Rugby Event Sanction Agreement page on my website.

In the Women's Division I Competitive Region 2 congratulations goes out to all 3 MW Clubs that have made it to the USA Rugby National Championship . . . the USA Rugby #1 seed is Chicago North Shore, which took 1st place in the CR2, the #2 seed is Detroit, which took 2nd place in the CR2 #2, and the #6 seed is Chicago, which took 3rd place in the CR2. In the Women's Premier League the Twin Cities Amazons are on top of both Conferences, Blue and Red, with 20 points, and that League still has two more weekends of Conference play before the National Championship Tournament starts on Friday the 9th of November.

Hey, let's also congratulate the MW Women's Division II Clubs that made the MW Championship playoff on the 27th and 28th of October . . . there were eight Clubs to start with, and now it's down to the Final 4, http://www.midwestrugby.org/12womensd2championship.htm . . . congratulations to the Pittsburgh Angles, which is the number 1 seed, to the number 2 seed, Scioto Valley, the number 3 seed, Milwaukee Scylla, and to the number 4 seed, Wisconsin. The Twin Cities Amazons Division II Club was in the Final 4, but had to drop out due to injuries . . . the Club beat Wisconsin 27 to 22 in the opening playoff round of 8. Good luck to all 4 Clubs as they play for a spot in the National Championship, which starts of Friday the 9th of November.

I'm still missing several Collegiate Conference website links, which may be a Facebook page . . . it you know of one that I don't have listed below send it to me asap.
