To One and All:
A newsletter two weeks in a row . . .
wow. It's a short week with Labor Day being this past Monday, and as with
most of us, I was enjoying the time off. That being said here we go . . .
all the current scores are below . . . enjoy . . .
I'm still working
on 'Club Totals', which I changed to 'Club Information' in-between 'Union
Information' and 'Club Rugby' in the left-hand index, http://www.midwestrugby.org/midwestclubs.htm.
I changed it from Club Totals because that's not all I'm doing with each page,
i.e., you'll notice that a lot of Clubs have their website link with the name of
the Club, and I'll be putting at least one contact for each Club under each
Club's listing. I'm attempting to get a better picture of how many
Clubs/Teams there are in the Midwest Territory 'cause the CIPP Data Base doesn't
include any Club's Team that is playing in more than one Division, and there are
many Clubs that have at least one additional Team playing in a different
Division. If you want to help me in that ongoing project please take a
look at your page, i.e., LAU or Youth Organization, and send me your website,
and/or two Club contacts. The contacts can have a name, e-mail address,
and phone number if the contact is okay with that, or just an e-mail address is
fine too. This will give everyone a place to go to for contact
information on every Club in the Midwest, or at least those Clubs that
want people, Rugby Enthusiasts, to know who they are and how to get in touch
with them. A Club's Contacts are usually the Club President and the Match
Secretary, or the Club Administrator if you have one.
I got a message from Gordon Brown,
the creator of Rugby Scorer, which is an Iphone/Ipod Application. It
gives you the ability to keep score, along with other important
information, and send that out immediately to anyone you want to send
the latest news about the match your attending. It's a free application .
. . to get started go to http://www.rugbyscorer.com. A number
of Midwest Rugby members are already using the system, and the only complaint
they have is that you can't edit an error until you send it out, i.e., then you
can go back, edit it and send it out again. So, it's good to also keep a
pencil and paper trail also. If you've got a huge fan base that don't
attend the matches, but want the most current news the Rugby Scorer application
may be something for you . . . check it out.
Some members of our Midwest Rugby
Community have been telling others, spreading a rumor, that I was fired by the
Midwest as the Promotional Director . . . that is an outright lie, and any of
you that have heard that should call the individual out on it, i.e.,
I QUIT at the AGM in 2009 . . . the fact that I quit never got in the
minutes, and that doesn't shock me, like who would publish the Midwest AGM
minutes correctly, with the truth. It also doesn't surprise me that
some people, with small minds and huge egos, are slandering me . . . heck, some
people tell others that my website is illegal . . . jeez, what idiots.
Hope that clears a few things up for those that have heard the ludicrous rumors,
which I laugh at hysterically.
Once again a huge THANKS
goes out to all of you that sent me your results, and that includes a bunch of
Referees . . . I had to change the score of one match 3 times 'cause I didn't
get the Referee's score until a few days later, which I always rely on for the
final say. Rugby Magazine had a few scores that were incorrect, but
they rely on scores sent in by anyone, and so, they don't always have it
right.
Cheers,
Shawn
