To One and All:

Thursday morning . . . another day when I get up and say, 'What can I do for Rugby today!' . . . not a real question, but a state of mind since I'm able, at 64 going on 65, to get up without any aches and pains, and able to walk, jog, and still run.

I'm going to keep saying this, 'cause I still don't get a number of results from each weekend to get my newsletter out on Monday, or sometimes by Tuesday, and sometimes by Wednesday, and so . . . to all our Clubs in the Midwest . . . promote your own game, get me your result as early as possible, because this newsletter goes out to many Newspaper Sports Editors across the Midwest, and a number of them love getting the news, but not past Monday . . . to all of them anything past Monday is old news, and they have already moved on to other sporting news . . . let's help each other out by getting me your result sooner than later. All the current scores I have are below . . . one upset to mention is the fact that the Grand Valley State Women beat the Eastern Illinois University Women 17 to 5 . . . of course it's not an upset to their Coach, Bob Richthammer, but hey, before that match the EIU Women had won 29 straight . . . take a look and enjoy . . .

Davenport University lost its case with USA Rugby on having a Collegiate Division I Team and a Division II Team competing for a National Championship. The Club can still have both, or maybe not depending on what the Michigan LAU says about it. My best guess is that it will have the same sort of program that Bowling Green State University has with their Division I Team, and their Division III Team.

One of our own, Liz Entwhistle, who has been a Rugby Coach, administrator, and is still a player, which includes being a CARFU All Star, is in dire straights financially. One of the issues was a lack of work insurance after she had a child, and she quit the job she had to get better insurance with the new company she's working for now. Another issue is the fact that she put out money up front for players, and a number of those guys haven't paid her back . . . imagine that . . . there are some major bucks involved with that since she put a Tour together for the Northwestern University guys, that they went on, and she hasn't been able to collect on what's owed her. She's also going through legal issues with the father of their child, Henry, who is nine months old. So, she's reaching out and asking for our help. She's in debt to the tune of somewhere around ten grand, and close to having her car repossessed . . . she needs immediate help, and so, I hope this newsletter will generate a great response to her.

Ed Hagerty, of Rugby Magazine, has compiled a LAU Census, http://www.rugbymag.com/features/profiles.aspx, that worth taking a look at to see what's been going on from 2004 to 2010. It's sort of inline with what I'm doing with my Club Information, http://www.midwestrugby.org/midwestclubs.htm, and mine does get into the details much more, which is something I feel the Midwest needs, and all in, more or less, one location.

Just got word that this past Saturday the Wisconsin Girls' High School Match between Wauwatosa and Northshore was "postponed due to the tragic death of Sydney Tabakin, who died on Saturday morning in a fatal car accident. The Wisconsin High School Girls' Rugby community mourns the loss of one of Northshore's players, which has been a difficult loss of her family, friends, and teammates."
