To One and All:

Midwest League matches are almost complete, and posted on my website, www.midwestrugby.org . . . I've received more results earlier this week than I have in the past few years, and like WOW, a huge THANKS goes out to all of you that have helped. Let me take a minute to let you all know what I'm looking for, and what most news gathering entities are looking for too . . . we don't need to be paid professionals to conduct ourselves like professionals, i.e., if we ever get our act together on promoting our own game through our ability to get scores of matches in by Sunday night, like ninety percent of all the matches in the Midwest on any given weekend, and then out to newspapers, Sports Editors, and online news agencies we will get noticed, and we will have more legitimate entities taking a look at us for stories, and, if nothing else, to publish what we've got going . . . keep what I've said in mind, and see if you might be able to help in some small way to make it happen . . . in the meantime . . . enjoy . . .

The Olympic Campaign: Keep on supporting this as much as you can, http://www.midwestrugby.org/09irbolympiccampaign.htm . . . get Rugby back into the Olympics . . . ONLY THREE DAYS LEFT FOR YOU TO ACT. THE DECISION WILL BE MADE ON THE 9th OF OCTOBER! To be more active sign the petition that's on this site, http://www.olympic-rugby.org/. The United States of America has over fifty-five thousand signatures already on the petition, and hey, in the next three days let's add another twenty thousand members from the Midwest signed on. The petition on www.olympic-rugby.org is a grassroots Rugby Players initiative geared to swing the vote of the Olympic Games' decision makers, and get Rugby back into the Games. "It's the last ten minutes of the Olympic Inclusion Finals and your signature will put Rugby in the gap, to cut through the defense like a hot knife through butter and score under the Olympic posts! Remember: No skip passes, hands will do! So pass on the message, tell your friends and Rugby will score in the corner and win the Olympic test match! Crouch, Touch and Pause - ENGAGE!" Yes, I've already signed the petition, and gotten several of my Rugby and none Rugby friends to vote also, i.e., the Olympics cuts to the heart of most Americans! There's another site the iRB would like you to go to and vote, http://www.insidethegames.biz/index.php . . . the poll is to the right, and after you vote you'll see the percentage and graph, which shows that over ten thousand votes, and over 80% of the votes are all for RUGBY . . . vote, vote, vote!

Coach Wanted . . .

On the Youth front . . .

The Midwest U19 and U17 Thunderbirds program will be holding two camps this October . . . the first one will be in Bowling Green, Ohio, on Sunday the 11th of October, and the second one will be in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Sunday the 18th of October. Both Camps will run from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Milwaukee Camp will have Bryn Chivers, USA Rugby U20 National Team Coach, as a special guest. All players are welcome at a cost of $25.00 per Camp. You need to get in touch with the Midwest U19 All Star Coach, Kurt Weaver, ku...@rugbyohio.com, as soon as possible. To be considered for this group of Thunderbirds you need to attend one of the Camps. After these Camps 25 player will be selected for the U19 Team, and 22 players will be selected for the U17 Team. All players selected will be required to attend the final gathering in Chicago before heading to Florida. The Chicago Camp will be held in November, with the date to be announced. Then, both Teams will go to the National Tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on the 21st and 22nd of November, 2009.
