Hi All,

Hope everyone is laying in a large stock of eggnog for the coming holidays.

I recently left Toronto for my new forever home... Packing up my shop was a nightmare and I am still looking for some items.  However, during the hunt I did find a small number of the SR63NG kits packed away.  I am pretty sure I don't need 9 kits but if anyone would like to have something to do in the new year drop me a line.  I will let them go for $40US each, cover my costs and shipping. Drop me a line and we can arrange payment.

Enjoy the holidays and happy 2017

Hi George
If some kit are left I speak for one. Let just me know please what the extra cost is to care about shipping to Europe.
Payment might be via Visa/Mastercard, Paypal, bank transfer. Choice is yours.
Enjoy your new home and happy new year.

I'd love to get my hands on one or two of these, if you still have some left. Let me know the total shipped to 14127 and I can send the money via PayPal/etc. I'll cover the fees :)

Funny, I was thinking recently of removing the build instructions from
my site, but there has been a surge of hits lately...

Hi Gary.

If you ever decide to do so let me know and I will archive the page(s) as a pdf for future reference.  It is one of the most detailed build sites I have seen. Excellent pictures and enough details you do not need my schematics to build it,  Heathkit style build instructions or for the those less than 50 IKEA style instructions ( without the ambiguity ).

Thanks for the work you put in to the page.

George

Gary,

I'll second George's notion. I've looked over the site and the instructions are excellent, losing them "into the ether" would be a huge loss to the kit builder's community and tinkerers in general.

Gary's build files will be around for a while and even if Gary goes offline there is always the internet archive.  I will see if there is a way to turn his excellent work into a giant pdf.

Folks,

Do Not Worry !!

I intend the site to stay.

Over the last few years I have been involved in quite a bit non-radio
stuff, but after seeing how some combine new/old hobbies etc my radio
adventure will be continuing especially after I get my new shack along
with a house extension (Not that I actually have had a shack as such for
the last 40 years).

Out of interest, how many other "live steamers" (can be diesel/electric
as well) are there in this group ??

I never did finish building mine.  Got to the finals and got side tracked other things.

As far as "live steamers" go, I have a solar so I can go a certain amount of QRP./ low power off the grid.

Where are you in Tassie, Bill ?

I have been meaning to sort out my licence for a few years and intend to stop in on VK7TAZ sometime in the new year to make a start on it, finally.

Regards,
Pete

G’day Gary,

I was heavily involved for 15 years in SA.

A back injury has forced me to reevaluate sitting hunched up behind a loco. Having said that, I’d love a 4” scale Folder BB1. Big enough to do useful work and not be hunched over.

I am now shifting direction into RC aircraft and autopilot systems. My end goal is to be able to provide crop health mapping for broad acre farmers.
So far, I have an autonomous fixed wing platform that will fly a preprogrammed flightpath and trigger a camera at defined distance or time intervals.
I can convert the images to a dense 3D point cloud and texture the resultant cloud. All using Open Source software.
On the to-do list is getting the imagery geo-reference and sourcing an appropriate imaging system to allow me to do NVIS imagery.

I can already see a need to scratch build airframes to suit my requirements (and develop the skills to do repairs :) ) as most of the available ARF platforms either do not meet all of my requirements or are simply out of my budget for what is essentially an educational exercise at this point. I had found homes for my workshop machinery when a move to France was highly likely. This fell through at the last minute but at least I now have room to build up a wood workshop.

My background is design and systems integration in military flight testing, so this UAV development and mapping stuff is an easy segway that I’m really doing for the mental stimulation while I try to figure out what comes next in life, after being put out to pasture by the military.

Regards,
Pete

G'Day Pete

Powranna in the northern midlands, 30 kms south of Launnie.

OK on your licence and dropping in on VK7TAZ in the new year. We are heavily involved with NTARC and VK7TAZ. My wife is the secretary of NTARC Inc and I'm the public officer.

Cheers

Bill
