I contacted MLO support per your suggestion and, very predictably, was told "we dont' comment on timelines" and "we're working on it."
Two now very hollow sentiments as they are exactly what we've heard since the beta announcement last october(?). That's BETA - not concept, not RAD, not Alpha - BETA - for some 10 months now. And not even a hint of *public* beta. No blog professing/sharing progress. No occasional (quarterly even...) post discussing happenings or goings-on. Not so much as a screen shot to whet one's appetite. Nothing. Even Google's Gmail - steeped in Beta for years - at least the beta was public by invite and accessible.
To your assertion that this is a 'user' forum, that's a bit of a misnomer - Andrey and other MLO ppl do in fact read and comment on posts here - though apparently only when it suits them.
To wit, the MLO Windows group is moderated on every post and unless I'm mistaken, this group is too.
In fact just the other day a potential cloud sync customer posted questioning the utility of MLO encryption and questioned the reasoning of MLO data servers being in Russia (and how that affects security of his data for cloud sync.)
That was important enough for Andrey himself to comment on, and within only a few days.
Apparently the progress of MLO v2 Android doesn't merit any comment from Andrey, even months after multiple users post and comment.
I don't know what to think anymore. Frankly I'm more than disenchanted with the empty promises and vaproware. I've been hanging on to MLO as a promise for quite some time and sadly have been led all to often to disappointment. Guess it's irrelevant as I've already paid for the product. Perhaps it would be more meaningful to clarify that not only have I stopped suggesting others to try MLO (I'm an IT pro/MSP and my client's routinely turn to me for advice on all facets of their tech), I'm actively discouraging anyone from trying it out presently. I know that the 10 or max 20 users/subscriptions I hold won't make or break MLO but still, I won't stake my name on a dog intent on chasing it's own tail.
The lack of progress on MLO Windows, the vaporware that is Android v2.. the blatant lack of feature parity across the mlo ecosystem.. it's all too scattered; too "thin" if you get my intent.
Now don't get me wrong; I'm very fair in my assessments - MLO is a program with FANTASTIC potential. It could be the answer for the simplest to-do list to the most complex and automated GTD system. Quite frankly, I've been 'following' MLO as a product for about 3 years now (since somewhere in the v3.x or maybe even late 2.x branch iirc, whenever it was that I joined the Android platform for my daily driver) - but I'm increasingly feeling that it will never reach or even approach it's actual promise or potential.
I have a bit of experience here - I'm an avid 'tryer' of new apps - particularly productivity apps, a GTD hound for some 7 or 8 years now, and was forced to first hand and closely watch a similarly fantastic product die a mediocre EOL; because it's devs refused to face harsh facts and realities about the platform and directions of their app (Life Balance on the Palm OS for reference).
In my view, MLO is facing presently it's own similarly harsh [though somewhat different] realities. These realities may not lead to MLO's demise as in the case of LB - but instead they will [continue] to relegate it to the also-ran that it has been for so many years.
I've watched many [less capable, less feature-rich] to-do solutions eclipse MLO's success in these past few years - Nozbe, Nirvana HQ, heck even Trello - the posterchild for lack-of-functionality - has bounded beyond the MLO user base. Anyone over there in Ukraine ever ask themselves why? Why this technically superior, ultra feature-rich to-do platform called MLO, with something for possibly every user type from simple list user to GTD megalomaniac can't quite get a foothold on mass market success?
Truth is it's more than just the release of an Android version...
I could share volumes of wealth on this - but not to fall on deaf ears.
My expriences and touchpoints with MLO *the Organization* lead me to believe there's a lack of willingness or ability to listen to their users. I'd love to be proven wrong but fear I'm indelibly right.
To wit see the scattershot that is the MLO User Voice, the lack of transparency or communication on major milestones, and even the simple inability to send a "thanks but no thanks" when I applied to their beta.
Again, I'd love to be proven wrong on any if not all of this but thus far, the facts are what they are.
Regards to all,
