Christmas Store Update

This note is to share with you the good news that the MLM Christmas
Store plans are coming along nicely and the store promises to be a
great success again this year! As the new team leader for the
project, it is incumbent on me to get the word put and to share
information about opportunities that await each and every one of your
churches or organizations to help make a true difference in the lives
of hundreds of Kansas City residents this coming Christmas.
This year I want to invite each church to find a way in which they can
help this initiative. Therefore, we will have several ways to help
out. First of all, we will be holding a toy/gift expo at Faith
Lutheran Church in July. This will provide groups to come and
purchase gifts/toys from an organization that can be delivered
directly to Immanuel Lutheran Church just prior to the event. This is
a very easy way for items to be purchased without the hustle and
bustle of shopping. On the other hand, if you have individuals who
enjoy shopping or feel it would be a worthwhile experience for their
youth or other groups, this can be accomplished by participating in
our Christmas in July gift drive. We will deliver a paper Christmas
tree to your church with gift tags on it, your members purchase a gift
or two and bring them back on a designated date and we collect them
for distribution. Other opportunities to serve would include
volunteering for set up days (12/3 and 12/4), shopping assistance for
the clients (12/5 to 12/8), helping with gift delivery (11/30 to
12/2).
It is my personal goal and my challenge to our team and the Lutheran
community to really raise the awareness of MLM and the vital role it
plays in the Kansas City community. This store is just one way in
which we serve others. It sends a very powerful message to our less
fortunate neighbors if we are there for them at Christmas in this
special way! Please consider setting this challenge for your
congregation. What a wonderful way for your youth group, Ladies or
Men's Group to get involved and give of themselves.
If you decide that your church can participate in some way, either
from those ideas listed above or something else unique to your group,
please let me know by June 22. Our team will assist you in any way we
can, whether it is gift pick up or communication writing for your
Sunday bulletins. Let's see if we can double the participation of the
churches this year!!
