Donations: The store is now accepting donations. Beginning Friday May
4 you may contact store manager Rick Chapman at 913-648-0700 (or
contact him on his cell 816-812-5718). A pickup can be scheduled if
you cannot deliver ($50 donation-In return, you receive a $20 voucher
to the store)
The list of items accepted includes:
Housewares and other household, Hardware
Kitchen items, dinnerware, glassware, silverware,
cups/mugs, towels, vacuums, wet vacs, tools, large and small
appliances in working order
Clothing: Adult and children. Bring to store or look for American
Clothing bins that will appear soon for collection of clothing items.
Furniture
Kitchen tables & chairs, buffets, hutches, ,sofas, chairs,
end tables, lamps, bedroom sets, night stands,
unused mattress/box springs, dressers, game tables,
pictures, picture frames
Entertainment
TV's, radios, stereos, games, DVD's, CD's, tapes, cassettes,
electronic players, sporting goods
Toys and Books
Toys in good condition, kid's furniture, electronics, games
Donations: personal/corporate cash, proceeds from fund raisers
NOT ACCEPTED
Car seats, remodeling items (tubs, sinks, faucets, cabinets)
Large office furniture, computers, sofa beds, used mattress/box spring
No rips, stains, burns, damaged, or inoperable items
No hazardess materials or items
No used undergarments
Volunteers with passion for this faith based organization are needed
for numerous roles:
· Organizational skills, sorting, cash register
· Core group of volunteers (team leaders) to manage day-to-day
activities. Volunteers for sorting and price tagging are key to
success.
· Keep all racks and shelves organized, need easy-to-read price tags
· Team leaders to assist in development and training of new volunteers
· Volunteers needed for light repair (furniture, appliances,
electronics) and testing of certain donations
· Keep manager informed of opportunities and risks
· Keep showroom floor, work areas, fitting rooms, and rest rooms clean
and tidy. Clean windows will be important at this location.
· Manage expenses, share cost saving ideas
· Assistance on pick up and delivery crew
There will be a special pre-opening charity and volunteer recognition
event on June 8. Watch this list for more details.
