senior citizens.
MLM Community Care Manager Faye Cowee said the recent hot weather has
overwhelmed area resources. "The weather is so warm now and a lot of
these older apartment buildings do not have air conditioning," she
said. "You get up on the fourth or fifth floor, and it's
unbearable."
Cowee said the need has outstripped supplies, even with help from
groups such as the Fan Club. Although portable fans are the most
needed, smaller, "room" air conditioners that plug into standard
(110) outlets are helpful, especially for the elderly.
