As Metro Lutheran Ministry Christmas Stores plans for its Missouri and
Kansas Christmas Stores Dec. 6-9, is worth remembering that these
efforts help real people. What follows is a
recent "thank you" note from just one of the more than 1,500 people
who are assisted:
Thank You:
To the wonderful people who worked for and at the Christmas
Store-thank you very much for all the neat gifts. The beautiful
quilt, I thought I would use for a present for my brother, but my feet
were really cold, so I took it out to use and it is so warm and so
pretty with the
bright red cherries on it. Thank you to the person who put in the time
and work to make it. I will always treasure it.
And thank you to the person who made the great purple and white house
slippers and for all the other things. But most of all, I am so
thankful to the wonderful lady that checked us all in, and the precious
lady that helped me shop and the gentleman that gave out the food
vouchers and blankets and he pointed out my wonderful quilt. You were
all so kind and didn't act as if anyone was below you because we
needed help.
Thank you all so very much for your kindness and the love in your
hearts for others. God bless each and everyone one of you.
-Thank you letter from
2005 Christmas store shopper

MLM Needs Include Both Donations and Help
Metro Lutheran Ministry needs both financial help and volunteers to
continue delivering its services.
Several critical volunteer needs are included, especially some physical
help to relieve staff members who are suffering back and other ailments
that make it impossible for them to help clients with moving and other
activities. For all of these "wish list items," please call (816)
931-0027 if you can help:
· With MLM's new logo and colors, the organization needs signage
changes at all three locations.
· MLM is in need of volunteers with handyman skills to work with the
minor home repair program. It is a program that does home repair work
for senior citizens. Inquiries should be directed to the Senior Series
Program Director Amy Breashears.
· Historically, the Project Care staff has moved furniture for
clients. Currently, one staff member has a bulging disc and another has
other back problems. Volunteers are desperately needed to assist with
moving.
· MLM needs plastic bags for the food pantry (similar to what you
receive from Price Chopper or Target).
For more information or to help MLM, please call (816) 931-0027.
