Thrift Store Approaching Grand Opening

A partnership formed between Metro Lutheran Ministry and Mission of the
Good Shepherd will soon result in a new thrift store opening in Kansas
City, Missouri. The profits from the thrift store will be split
equally between the two agencies, according to Jim Glynn, Executive
Director of MLM. The thrift store will be located in the vicinity of
103rd and State Line Road. The need for a location convenient for
the likely customers as well as volunteer workers is the driving force
in locating the thrift store in this area, according to Robert Boone,
who is heading the Thrift Store task force.

The thrift store will be run under an existing 501 (C) (3) that is not
currently in use, Boone stated, adding that the existing board is being
closed out so that a new board of directors can be appointed prior to
opening the store.

Other than the manager and the driver who will be paid employees,
volunteers will be needed to staff the store. The hope is to open the
thrift store in early 2007. The task force is still seeking candidates
for the manager position (see want ad below).
