MLM Gets Ready for Back to School

Metro Lutheran Ministry is planning now for its annual "Back to
School" Supply Giveaway.

MLM will distribute school supplies during the month of August to area
families. Although often overlooked, school supplies can be one of the
most important yet expensive annual costs for families in need.

"Families that are challenged to pay their bills find it very hard to
afford today's school supply costs," explained MLM Community Care
Manager Faye Cowee. "Yet these children face an immediate hurdle if
they don't have the tools. By helping, we can eliminate an important
barrier for these young people."

The types of supplies needed include two-pocket folders, ink pens,
crayons, pencils, glue, rulers, paint sets, spiral notebooks, erasers
and more. Even backpacks (knapsacks) are important because security
issues require that children today must carry their books instead of
using lockers.

With support from 47 area Lutheran churches and another 167
congregations representing 18 denominations, Metropolitan Lutheran
