Applications are invited for a fully funded two-year postdoctoral position in AI for Weather Forecasting under the supervision of Prof. Souhaib Ben Taieb at the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The position is part of MBZUAI’s broader initiative to advance AI-driven climate and environmental intelligence, with a particular emphasis on AI for weather forecasting. The successful candidate will contribute to developing state-of-the-art machine learning methods for probabilistic and deep learning-based weather prediction, uncertainty quantification, and data assimilation. The research will involve close collaboration with national and international partners, including leading research institutions and government agencies, aiming to enhance predictive accuracy, support climate resilience, and improve decision-making in weather-sensitive sectors through advanced AI technologies.

Key Qualifications  
  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Atmospheric or Climate Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Practical experience applying machine learning techniques to weather modeling, forecasting, or spatial analysis.
  • Proficiency in Python and widely used ML frameworks
  • Strong foundation in spatiotemporal modeling, probabilistic prediction, or time-series forecasting.
  • Familiarity with climate or weather datasets (e.g., reanalysis, satellite, or observational data).
  • Strong publication record in top-tier AI or domain-relevant venues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
