Workshop on Multi-modal Misinformation Governance in the Era of Foundation Models
Co-located with ACM Multimedia 2024
October 28 - November 1, 2024, Melbourne, Australia

We invite submissions to the Workshop on Multi-modal Misinformation Governance in the Era of Foundation Models, which will be held in conjunction with the 2024 ACM Multimedia Conference in Melbourne, Australia.

Scope and Topics

The workshop aims to address the challenges and opportunities of governing misinformation in the age of foundation models, which leverage multi-modal data (e.g., text, images, videos) to generate and propagate content. We welcome contributions that explore theoretical, methodological, and practical aspects of this topic, including but not limited to:

  • Detection and mitigation of misinformation in multi-modal content
  • Ethical and legal considerations in the governance of multi-modal misinformation
  • Cross-modal analysis and alignment for misinformation detection
  • Advances in foundation models for combating misinformation
  • Case studies and applications of multi-modal misinformation governance
  • Policy and regulatory frameworks for misinformation governance
  • User behavior and interaction with multi-modal misinformation

Submission Guidelines

We invite two types of submissions:

  1. Full Papers: Up to 8 pages (excluding references, which can be up to 2 additional pages). These should present substantial contributions to the field and will be allocated a longer presentation slot.
  2. Short Papers: Up to 4 pages (excluding references, which can be up to 1 additional page). These should present early-stage research, preliminary results, or position papers and will be allocated a shorter presentation slot.

All submissions must be original work and not under review elsewhere. Manuscripts should be prepared according to the ACM Multimedia conference proceedings format and submitted via the workshop's submission site.

  • Paper Submission Deadline: 1 August 2024 (Anywhere on Earth)
  • Notification of Acceptance: 10 August 2024 (Anywhere on Earth)
  • Camera-Ready Papers Due: 19 August 2024 (Anywhere on Earth)
  • Workshop Date: October 28 - November 1, 2024
