We welcome applications for a Junior Professor Chair (tenure-track
position) from researchers working at the intersection of
Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Materials Science, Soft
Matter, Physics, Chemistry, Data Science, and Scientific
Computing. The position aims
to develop innovative AI methodologies addressing major challenges
in
materials research, including:

- Representation of complex multi-scale material structures;
- Integration of imaging, microscopy, scattering, diffraction and
other characterization data;
- Learning from limited and expensive experimental datasets;
- AI-driven materials discovery and design;
- Multi-objective optimization involving performance,
sustainability, recyclability, cost, and manufacturability;
- Development of novel machine learning methods specifically
tailored to scientific and materials applications.

We are particularly interested in candidates capable of bridging
AI and experimental sciences to create the next generation of
data-driven approaches for materials research.

📍 Location: ESPCI Paris – PSL University, Paris, France
📅 Start date: February 2027 (or at a mutually agreed later date)
⏳ Tenure-track duration: 4–6 years, leading to a Full
Professorship
💰 Salary: Starting from €49,500 gross annual salary (negotiable
depending on experience)
🚀 Start-up package: €230,000, including support for a PhD
student, a postdoctoral researcher, equipment, and operating
expenses
📚 Teaching load: Reduced (maximum 64 hours/year during the
tenure-track period)

The candidate will be affiliated with MINGUS (Machine Intelligence
Group for the Sciences), PSL's interdisciplinary AI research team
dedicated
to developing machine learning methods for scientific
discovery. In addition, and depending on the candidate’ profile
and scientific interest, he/she will join either:
- C3M (Chemistry, Macromolecular Chemistry and Materials
Laboratory), or
- SIMM (Soft Matter Science and Engineering Laboratory)
