CIBB 2026: SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED
==================================================================
Dear CIBB Enthusiasts and Newcomers,
We are pleased to announce that the submission deadline for CIBB 2026
has been extended by 10 days. In the meantime, we are also pleased to
confirm Nicola Segata (University of Trento) as our third invited
speaker, joining Per Kragh Andersen and Marianna Rapsomaniki.
NEW SUBMISSION DEADLINE: May 13, 2026 (23:59 AoE)
All other dates and details remain unchanged.
CIBB 2026 will take place at Sapienza University of Rome from
September 2 to 4, 2026. Authors of accepted papers will be invited to
submit extended versions either to the Springer Lecture Notes in
Bioinformatics (LNBI) series, or to one of the Special Issues of
international journals associated with the conference. The conference
features 27 Special Sessions covering a broad range of topics in
bioinformatics, biostatistics, and medical informatics.
Best regards,

[Special session on Machine Learning for Structured Data in Clinical
Informatics and Medical Biology]
Machine learning has become a pivotal tool for analyzing biomedical
and biological datasets, especially in the era of Big Data. Machine
learning algorithms can uncover hidden relationships and structures
within healthcare data and leverage them to make accurate predictions
about similar or future data instances. For example, machine learning
software has successfully predicted cancer diagnoses by analyzing
patients' clinical features, enabling scientists to save time and
resources compared to traditional wet-lab experiments. Computational
researchers have also applied machine learning to infer knowledge
about patients by analyzing biological datasets, particularly those
involving genetic and epigenomic traits. Data mining approaches
applied to such datasets can lead to significant discoveries,
deepening our understanding of molecular biology and providing new
insights into patients’ diseases.
Moreover, recent advancements in this field anticipate the integration
of clinical knowledge (represented in various forms such as medical
protocols) into machine learning algorithms. By defining methods to
incorporate and inject such knowledge, it becomes possible to harness
the strengths of both knowledge-based and data-driven approaches.
