applications for user modeling, customer profiling, personalization,
and recommender systems. A special emphasis of the group is on
principled data analysis taking interdisciplinary approaches that
consider socio-cultural context and personal preferences. Research
topics include the following:

-Data mining: time-series analysis, soft computing techniques,
semantic data mining, ontologies, social network analysis, visual data
mining and data visualization, mining of multiple data types: streams,
high-dimensional, sensor data, text and semi-structured data,
multimedia, user logs, spatial and temporal
-Statistical Learning: kernel methods, SVM, bayesian inference,
bayesian networks, Boosting, EM
-User modeling, profiling and personalization: domain knowledge
acquisition, representation, reasoning, management of user and group
models, security and privacy aspects in the management of user data
- Recommender systems: algorithms, recommender interfaces,
recommenders in
social networks and social computing applications

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a related
