Dear all,

Have you ever been intrigued by reinforcement learning and wanted to use your passion to make a difference in neuroimaging segmentation to improve wellbeing for all?
Join us in this project and begin your journey as a full-time PhD candidate!

GEMS2025's Project Title:
AI-Driven Incidental Detection of Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms: Development of a Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning Tool for Enhanced Neuroimaging

About the Project:

Incidental detection of unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs) has become more critical with advancements in imaging technologies. UIAs affect about 3% of the global population, with higher prevalence in certain risk groups, particularly those with a family history of aneurysmal subarachnoid haemorrhage (aSAH), a severe stroke caused by aneurysm rupture. Detecting UIAs often occurs unintentionally during imaging for unrelated reasons. Developing a lightweight AI tool, powered by an adaptive cooperative multi-agent reinforcement learning algorithm, integrated into routine imaging systems (e.g., CT, MRI), can automatically pre-screen for aneurysms, aiding clinicians in early diagnosis of incidental detection of UIA and improving patient outcomes.

Supervisors:
Main Supervisor Assoc. Professor Vishnu Monn - Monash University
Co-supervisors
Ts. Dr. Sicily Fung Fung, Ting; Dr. Yasmeen George; Assoc. Professor Zongyuan Ge
