The Learning and Pain Lab (Prof. Michel-Pierre Coll, School of Psychology, Université Laval / CIRRIS) is recruiting a master's student to develop machine-learning and deep-learning models that decode pain perception from EEG signals. The project is co-supervised with Prof. Cem Subakan (Computer Science, Université Laval; associate member of MILA), bridging pain neuroscience and ML.

You'll design, train, benchmark, and interpret models with access to high-performance computing resources, and can apply through the computer science, neuroscience, or psychology master's programs depending on your background. Ideal candidates hold a bachelor's in computer science, neuroscience, or psychology, have solid Python skills, and are curious about applying AI to brain signals; experience in neuroscience is a plus. Funding includes an $18,000/year scholarship plus support for external grant applications (FRQ, NSERC/CIHR). Start: Fall 2027 (flexible), ~2 years.

To apply, send a cover letter, transcript, and CV to michel-pi...@psy.ulaval.ca. The successful candidate will have an affiliation with Mila-Quebec AI Institute as well.
