Dear all

I am defiantly coming. I would like to bring 3 posters for people to look at in the coffee break. They are on OneGeology, and the new data models for transfer of data related to GeoSciML and Mineral Occurrences.

They are normal size conference posters (can’t find a tape measure) and they will give you all an idea of where some of the Geoscience data transfer standards are going. (Both GeoSciML and OneGeology are projects of the International Union of Geological Sciences).

We are keen to try to harmonise ADX into GeoSciML as GeoSciML is mainly about concepts related to field geology, and ADX then describes concepts related to how a sample is processed and analysed.

The Mineral Occurrence model has been developed by the Australian geological Surveys and is harmonised with GeoSciML. It is a model that describes concepts related to Mineral Occurrences, mining activities and ore reserves and resources. The later are compatible with the Australian JORC code. Both data transfer models are ISO/OGC compatible.

Take care

Lesley

Subject: MIGC - Final agenda for the ESRI UC meeting

Hi Everyone,

The next MIGC meeting is to be held on Sunday afternoon, June 17, in San Diego, CA, just before the ESRI User Conference. The meeting will be held in Room 18, Mezzanine level, of the San Diego Convention Center. The revised agenda is below. I have re-ordered the talks and removed the ArcGeology 1 and 2 discussion in favour of a session on a 3D database project from Gijima. This was made possible by the separate session on ArcGeology 1 & 2 being held Tuesday afternoon.

1:00 - 1:10 - Introductions
1:10 - 1:20 - ADX Update - Iain Allen, Barrick Gold
1:20 - 2:00 - 3D Spatial Database Project - Jim Porter, Gijima

2:00 - 2:45 - Geosoft and ESRI - the Road Ahead - Ian Macleod, Geosoft (includes group discussion)
2:45 - 3:00 - Geological Training for ArcView - What Works Best - group discussion
3:00 - 3:15 - Coffee Break
3:15 - 4:00 - ArcGeology 1: A data model for geology - Jordan Hastings, USGS

4:00 - 4:30 - The FIBRE geodatabase model - Jordan Hastings, USGS
4:30 - 5:00 - Mineral Potential Modeling using Geostatistical Simulation @ ArcGIS 9.3 - Steve Kopp, ESRI

Comments are welcome, and please let me know if you plan to attend.

Thanks,

Iain

Hi all,

I can’t make the event but it sounds like a great agenda.

Hopefully we can get the presentations on the web site for download for those of us who are otherwise occupied.

Cheers

Hi Everyone,

I will be collecting  the Presentations and putting them on the web site. I am also hoping to record the discussions and post those as well, as they promise to be interesting.

Cheers,

Iain
