Dear Pete,

We're counting on you... please register or renew today at ShakeOut.org/washington.

(*Your drill can be held another day if 10/16 does not work for you or your organization.
)

Get Ready to ShakeOut:

Below is a checklist of what you can do now to improve your level of safety:
  • Learn more about easy DIY fixes you can do around your home here (LA Daily News)
    Organizations: you can use our drill manuals to help develop your drill plans, then log in to your ShakeOut account and let us know what your ShakeOut drill will include.

  • Learn and share how to properly Drop, Cover, and Hold On.

  • Spread the word by distributing our flyers and posting our postersYou can also enlarge them to any size you want for hanging around the office space or other large spaces.

  • Get the buzz going by using #ShakeOut and uploading our banners as a post or profile photo on your favorite social media site like Facebook or Twitter.

  • Learn more by following the Seven Steps to Earthquake Safety.

Earthquake Apps and Alerts!

Prepare, survive, and recover with the Red Cross Earthquake App, available in the App Store or Google Play. You can set earthquake alerts based on your location, learn how to stay safe and get prepared, notify your contacts that you are okay, find nearby shelters, and much more.

You can also sign up for text and email alerts from the USGS Earthquake Notification System. Click here to get started.

Help the USGS: Please participate in a  survey about earthquake early warning messages. Your answers will help develop a proposed earthquake early warning smartphone app.

Thank you for your continued participation in this historic event and for your commitment to disaster preparedness!
