HERBS IN THE GARDEN, HERBS IN THE KITCHEN

Learn all the basics of growing and using culinary herbs:

  • Starting your herbs from seeds, cuttings, transplants and division.
  • Integrating herbs in your landscapes and vegetable garden.
  • Designing beautiful herb containers.
  • Maintaining your plants with sustainable methods.
  • Harvesting your herbs.
  • Preserving fresh herbs by drying and freezing.
  • Using herbs in vinegars, oils, butters, teas, sachets and potpourris.

 An herb chart and informational websites will be given.     

This class will be taught by Master Gardeners Kathy Fleming and Susie Stone.  Kathy has been a Master Gardener since 2006.  She has been growing and sharing herbs, in containers and landscape, in her Bay Area home for 15 years.   Susie, a Master Gardener since 2008, owns the fine gardening service Herban Garden. She writes about Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and volunteers with Friends of the Urban Forest in San Francisco.

Classes are held at Lyngso Garden Materials, 19 Seaport Blvd in Redwood City.  Classes are free but advance registration is required.  Register at LyngsoGarden.com.
