Master Gardeners Present:

Preserving Your Harvest

Saturday August 4, 1pm to 3pm

Lyngso Garden Materials, 19 Seaport Blvd, Redwood City CA.

Classes are free but advance registration is required at www.lyngsogarden.com.

Is your garden overflowing?  Would you like to savor that summer flavor in the winter?  Master Gardener Nancy Grove will teach you a number of ways to preserve your harvest:  canning (water bath and pressure), drying, freezing and cold storage.  Learn modern and safe methods for food storage.

Nancy Grove is a founding member of SM/SF Master Gardeners.  She was fortunate to learn canning techniques from her mother.  Much of the “Grove Farm” applesauce comes from a tree that has provided apples for her family for five decades.  Nancy and her husband grow essentially all the produce that they consume and her passion for canning and drying yields many holiday presents and hostess gifts throughout the year.

The Master Gardeners of San Mateo and San Francisco counties are a part of University of California Cooperative Extension.  They are UC-trained volunteers who provide home gardeners with research-based information that promotes sustainable gardening practices and a healthy environment.  Visit them at http://smsf-mastergardeners.ucanr.org/.
