The Master Gardeners of San Mateo and San Francisco counties are pleased to host the 2012 Educational Garden Tour and Plant Sale on June 23rd.

The tour begins at Redwood High School, where tour guests will receive maps to the gardens.   At the high school, guests can tour the Master Gardener demonstration garden.  Master Gardeners will be available to talk about growing vegetables, using culinary herbs, raising backyard chickens and more.    A plant sale featuring hundreds of vegetable and herb seedlings, blooming plants and succulents, will also be held at the high school.

This year’s Educational Garden Tour will feature five private gardens in San Carlos, Menlo Park and Atherton.   The gardens vary in size and style, but each features beautiful water-wise design and wonderful plant choices.   Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand in each garden to answer questions and demonstrate sustainable gardening practices, including turf alternatives, wildlife-friendly gardening, efficient irrigation, growing edibles and much more.

The tour will be held on Saturday, June 23rd from 10am-4pm.  Tickets are $20.  All tour guests should check in at Redwood High School at 1969 Old County Road in Redwood City.  Tickets can be bought there (cash or check only) on the day of the tour or purchased on-line in advance.  For more information or to purchase tickets, go to SMSF-MasterGardeners.ucanr.org.

Proceeds help finance the educational activities of the San Mateo/San Francisco Master Gardener program.
