Welcoming bees, birds, butterflies, bats & hummingbirds to your garden

Saturday May 5, 10am to noon

Lyngso Garden Materials, 19 Seaport Blvd, Redwood City CA.

Classes are free but advance registration is required at www.lyngsogarden.com.

Whether you have an apartment balcony or an acre of space, you can create a garden that attracts wildlife and helps restore habitat in commercial and residential areas.  Pollinators are crucial to the health of our gardens, our food supply and our environment.  You will learn the four basic requirements of all wildlife and how to provide it for hundreds of species of local bees, birds, butterflies, bats and hummingbirds.   You will get practical information on how to make your garden more attractive to these pollinators.  Master Gardeners will discuss and demonstrate many ways to house, feed and shelter various species and will provide handouts with resources for more information.

This class will be taught by Master Gardeners Cindy Burgdorf and Cathy McCarty.   Cindy and Cathy both have gardens that have been certified as Wildlife Gardens by the National Wildlife Foundation and Butterfly Gardens by the North American Butterfly Association.  They both have bee hives, are members of Partners for Sustainable Pollination and have taken the Healthy Yard Pledge with the Audubon Society.
