MASTER GARDENERS PRESENT: Tomato and Pepper Seedling Sale - April 14th

What comes to mind when we say “Green Zebra”, “Black Cherry” or “Chocolate Stripes”? Tomatoes, of course! These are just three of the thirty five varieties of tomatoes offered by the Master Gardeners of San Mateo and San Francisco counties at their annual tomato sale on April 14th.
· Looking for varieties that will thrive in a cool summer? How about the classic “Beauty” or “Green Zebra”, the beefsteak “Black Krim” or the small “Black Cherry” or “Koralik”? Those are just a few of the varieties that tolerate cool and foggy weather.
· Have you had problems with Late Blight in the past? You’ll want to try “Mountain Magic”, “Golden Sweet” or one of the many disease resistant varieties.
· Looking for paste tomatoes? Try “Mama Leone”, “Jersey Devil”, “San Marzano” or “Russsian Big Roma”.
· A rainbow of cherry tomatoes? Combine “Black Cherry”, “Sun Gold”, “Red Chelsea” and “Idli” for a wonderful color combination!
· And peppers? Do you want large, red and sweet? Just a little heat? A whole lot of heat? We have 15 varieties for you!
Just remember to be patient. Tomatoes like warm air and warm soil. It won’t be time to plant in our area for a few more weeks.
