The pollution of the night sky and nocturnal environment was touched on in
the new movie directed by Leonardo DiCaprio, entitled, The Eleventh Hour.
In the opening segment, the earth is shown from space as day turns to night,
with all the lights appearing. The speaker says it looks like "an
infection". Later, a naturalist (there are dozens of scientists and
environmental activists interviewed) says that lighting destroys our
connection to the natural nocturnal environment.
