On Thursday, January 10, 2008, Representative Walt Bivins announced the Missouri Night Sky Protection Act is available for other Representatives to Co-Sponsor. He is planning to file this on January 16, 2008 upon adjournment. This Act is receiving bi-partisan support.
In his message, Representative Walt Bivins identifies this as:
"4. This legislation would apply to “Missouri Protected Places” such as parks and wilderness areas. The Sky Luminance would be phased in over time until by 2055 The Night Sky Luminance would be limited to no more than 10% of natural luminance. (4183L.01I)"
Please take a minute to contact your Representative in the Missouri House of Representatives. To do this you need your Zip+4: http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/welcome.jsp
Enter this number at: http://www.house.mo.gov/ Look for the name in the "House district". Click on it and you should be taken to their page on the Missouri House of Representatives website. Forward this message to your Representative and ask them to sign on as a Co-Sponsor.
