Learning Center Using In Our Center

Currently the children are spending a lot of time in the science area.  We began our gardening project on May 9.  The children observed collard seeds using the magnifying glasses.   They also examined potting soil.  They counted the seeds before putting them into the soil.  They picked out different gardening books to put in the science area.  The children were so exiced on Monday May 16 when they saw that the seeds had sprung up into little green plants.

One of our new favorite centers is the "Fitness Center". We set this
area up as a gym with sign in, exercise ball, balance beam, weights
( made from styrofoam), and scales for weighing. We also included
books and tapes about fitness and exercise. A variety of music was
available to encourage dancing, moving, or exercising. Later we added
some items to use in making nutritious snacks. We had a chart with
children's names where they could mark when they had completed an
activity.
It was a real hit---and so many motor activities were done. It was a
wonderful way to get our children moving!
