I gave a tour this past Saturday and the manager duty wanted 5 people. He also had an attitude as well. I don’t why he was annoyed. I think it is important, for me, to show my tour Campbell. I can limit to 5 at a time.

Hi again docents,

Please see below – I just got this e-mail from Emmanuel at Orpheo.

I trust each of you to handle your own tour, but I would suggest that your rule of thumb be that if you have more than 5 attendees you should just skip The Campbell maybe?

I’m just the messenger…..

Thanks all,

Ted

Subject: Campbell Apartment Request

Hi Ted,

I just met with Elphin Murren, the General Manager of The Campbell at Grand Central. There's a minor issue with the amount of people that come into the bar during the tours.

The docents can hang around the waiting area / lobby with the tour party and give them a breakdown of the area, which is usually the normal procedure. That is fine,  but he would appreciate if we can limit the amount of people who come into the Apartment to take a look at the bar to 5 people at a time.

Kindly pass this on to the docents, so all of us are on the same page.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Folks, I've introduced myself to whoever is at the welcome desk and requested approval of multiple groups of 5 into Campbell. Please note that there are other tour groups which may or may not be as well disciplined as we are.

I’ve been doing it this way for at least the past year. I check in with the hostess, she requests 5 at a time. I do an intro in the lobby, let people stream in and out 5 at a time, give the people waiting other things to look at pointing at how close we are to get a close up look of the electroliers through the window, and let them know about the bathroom.

Never been a problem.
