Well another Thanks Giving has passed and I tended to eat too much as
usual [see my holiday video at the home site for my weight management
recommendations during the Holidays]. It never fails. Although, I
did heed my own advise by consuming a moderate meal 3 hours before I
ate the main meal... I think this is what saved me. I know I was not
as hungry as I otherwise would have been. I did eat one loaded plate
of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and 2 dinner rolls, the gravy was
fantastically unreal! I think the one item I'm really week on is
deserts. I did wait 1 hour before dipping into the deserts. I wanted
to make sure I was not over full before going in for the gut buster
portion of rich deserts. I should add a valuable tip... Never make
the deserts and then attempt to stay away from them. I won't make the
same mistake next year. This is usually what kills me during the
Holidays.
Oh well, the way I look at it is, it could have been worse. Today,
the day after Thanks Giving per my own advise, I ensured I walked
approximately 1 hour.
The trick to not feeling extremely hungry after waking up the next day
after a big meal is to ensure you drink at least one cup of water "as
soon as you wake up." I know this is not an appealing thing to do...
But it will actually make your stomach feel as if you have put
something into it so you don't experience the stretch on your stomach
the night before. I than ate a bowl of cereal 1 hour later after
waking. This kept me satisfied prior to my 1 hour walk at 1100am.
The other tip/trick the day after a Holiday meal... Don't eat the left
overs... It's too easy to overconsume and stay on this track through
NewYears. I'm freezing my left overs by making individual meals out
of the left overs. At least I won't be staring at these goodies for
the next 5-10 days. I can't handle opening my fridge and having the
food scream at me saying "eatttt meeeeeee!"
One last tip during the Holidays... Try not to eat after 7:30 pm.
Your bodies metabolism slows down too much, especially after age
25-30.
With these tips to manage weight during the Holidays, I don't loose
weight, but I don't gain weight either "pretty much a wash." At least
I can enjoy the Holidays without feeling guilty over my weight.
Another thing I like to do to measure my weight management program...
I gage what I consume and how much I exercise by how my pant waist
line feels. I hate scales. If your pants are too tight, your putting
too much weight on around the bread basket.
If you have any tips on how you manage weight during the Holidays,
please don't be shy about contributing to this post.
