L.A.C.E. Productions presents its Katrina benefit production:
"dancing with paints: special blues edition"
August 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27 @ 8 PM

"...Carradine is no average dancer. She's been around the world. She's
worked with some of classical ballet's most famous celebrities. Unlike
most dancers her age, she has her own dance venue, LACE Theater on the
CSUCI campus; and even more remarkably, she's already breaking outside
the boundaries of the status quo."

Camarillo, CA - L.A.C.E. Theater presents its benefit production of
"dancing with paints: special blues edition", directed, choreographed,
and performed by Caitlyn Carradine on August 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26,
27, 2006 at 8pm at the L.A.C.E. Theater, located in Building #44 on
Santa Barbara Ave., within the CSUCI campus, close to the 101, with
plenty of parking. This is a one-year anniversary of Katrina/benefit
production for survivors still homeless in the Lower 9th Ward, New
Orleans, by L.A.C.E. Productions, a company founded and run by Artistic
Director Caitlyn Carradine. Tickets are $10 general admission and
paintings will be for sale for $20. All moneys raised will be sent to
Charmaine Neville who lives (and rode out the storm) in the Lower 9th
Ward and knows who is in need and not receiving anything. For
reservations and information, call: (310) 589-9453. Web:

Caitlyn Carradine stars in a contemporary "painting ballet" production
using all different shades of blue paints and a Charmaine Neville
soundtrack. dancing with paints: special blues edition turns the stage
floor into a canvas and the dancer's feet into paintbrushes. The first
half is danced very classically with pointe shoes and the second half
is danced barefoot with a contemporary twist. The painting left on the
canvas at the end of the production is merely a by-product of the
performance. The shades of blue paint represent the water and the
feeling of the blues, and the paintings serve as a memory and capture
the movements in a 2 dimensional plane. The choreography reflects the
soul and sound of New Orleans homegirl Charmaine Neville. The show
altogether serves as a reminder to all that New Orleans is still in
trouble and still needs our help in every way possible.

________________________________________________________________
The L.A.C.E. Theater was founded in 2003 by Los Angeles native Caitlyn
Carradine, to be a "laboratory" to develop experimental ballet works,
and to push the limits of contemporary dance theater by having a place
to work out new ideas, and test them in front of small audiences. What
one sees presented in these performances is a unique look inside the
artistic process. (Of note: the LACE Theater is located in what used to
be the old Camarillo State Hospital.) L.A.C.E. has thus far been a
quiet success, attracting the attention of some of the dance world's
most notable innovators and choreographers such as William Forsythe
(director of The Forsythe Company, Germany) and Glenn Edgerton (former
director of NDT, Nederlands).

Charmaine Neville is a hero to the city of New Orleans and a home girl
with superstar status. "All music is good music," she says firmly. "I
try to cover the whole spectrum and do just everything. I don't want to
be stagnated and stuck in a rut....People ask, 'Oh, what category would
you put your music in?' and I say, 'Good!'" Born into the third
generation of the New Orleans legendary musical family, Charmaine has
nonetheless worked hard to get where she is and make her music known as
her own. The work has paid off - as one reviewer recently wrote,
"Charmaine Neville is beginning to rival her father and uncles in terms
of popularity in New Orleans." She started out backing up the Neville
Brothers and went on to perform with the survivors, a band whose alumni
list includes Harry Connick Jr. and Bobby McFerrin. It was here that
she first started working with saxophonist Reggie Houston.

Caitlyn Carradine is a professional ballerina whose training and
experience hails from the Vienna State Opera Ballet School where she
was the only girl in her class of 17 to graduate in 2001. She worked
and trained at Vienna's Saatsoper (State's Opera) and Volksoper
(People's Opera). She returned home with the blessings of her Volksoper
director to start a company in Los Angeles based on the companies she
had experienced while abroad. She has created more than 17 original
works and all are categorized as "avant garde one-woman dance specific
shows." She has been favorably written about in the Los Angeles Times,
Dance Spirit Magazine, and the VCReporter. She also has a cult
following with the likes of Fred Armisen (SNL), Martha Plimpton
(Goonies), Kenny Hotz (Kenny vs. Spenny), a UN Weapons Inspector,
sci-fi writers, artists, dancers and dance enthusiasts, and several
local families who follow her shows and news closely. She is also
grand-daughter to John Carradine, legendary film star.
