I don't think I mentioned it last semester but I was able to start our
group up on Facebook at the end of last semester. This provides a
somewhat public face and allows for more venues of communication.
There are a few videos from some things I found last semester and a
few topics of discussion. There is one hitch: membership is
restricted to review. That means that you can ask to be a member but
you will have to be approved by one of the managers before you can
post. This is due to the ease of finding Atheists through Facebook
and making sure our group site there is free from religious harassment
which I have noticed plagues many of the Atheist sites on Facebook.
If you have a Facebook account, make sure to sign up; if you don't,
get a Facebook account and sign up!
I just posted a new item I discovered about the Atheist Alliance
International (AAI) convention coming up in September. The SSA, due
to money donated by the Richard Dawkins Foudation for Reason and
Science, is taking applications for grant money to offset the cost to
students to going. I missed last years convention but I am going to
try real hard to make this one! I hope others plan on the same. To
find out what is included with the grant, go to:
http://www.secularstudents.org
For more info on the convention, go to:

The google group will be the main forum for our school group and the
main way in which emails are sent and things are communicated. I will
try and make sure major group announcements are also posted at the
Facebook site.
