By now, hopefully, everyone is starting to get into that grueling
repetition of college classes (for those members of this group who go)
and soon it will be time to start attending the meetings of your
various groups you belong too. A time and place has not been chosen
for this fall but some suggested times that people can attend would be
much appreciated. I am available any day after 1:00 which should
allow me to be at all meetings this semester.

Aside from meeting times, we have had an officer graduate, Jarred, and
we will need to replace his position to continue our RSO status.
Anyone interested in doing that, please send me an email by going to
the google groups page, clicking my name, then viewing my email.

I'm sorry for the porn bot posts over the summer. I have been very
busy and unable to keep up with the google group page but I have
changed the settings so that these messages don't show up anymore.

Finally, we have a busy year ahead. Charlie has suggested that we try
to put together a good celebration for Darwin Day. We will need to
coordinate with other departments and come up with some good ideas for
things to do or some professors, or others, to talk about things
related to evolution, it's impact on modern science, and it's ongoing
battle with the religious fundamentalists--especially the
creationists. In fact, I just recently discovered part of the
chemical reason why errors appear in DNA (sometimes called spontaneous
change). This was discussed in a chemistry class so there are many
disciplines this touches. We can discuss these ideas and more at the
next meeting and get to know some new faces, if any.

I hope everyone's first week goes great!
