This is the pending constitution. Pending changes will be highlighted
in red. Currently there are no pending changes. We originally talked
about some changes at the meeting but I don't have a consensus on
changes yet. Please submit your proposed changes to the group. I
would only like to add one change to Article IV section 5 to add the
language: "If the voting membership is less than 10 members, a quorom
shall be 1/2 of the voting membership with this number being
determined by the officer in charge of keeping the membership roster."

The link is listed below. Please submit any proposed changes to the
group. This constitution may or may not be enforced at this time due
to small membership but we must submit a constitution to become an
RSO. Also, as was pointed out by Charlie, this makes an excellent
fall back document if such a time or group size warrants it. Officers
will be elected according to the constitution due to RSO policy. I
plan on submitting a constitution within the first or second week of
the next semester so please get your opinion in on the matter. We
will discuss any submitted changes on Wednesday and any decisions made
will be posted to the proposed constitution after the meeting.
Submissions can be submitted afterwards but remember that it will be
difficult in discussing these changes as we might not be able to meet
between semesters.

As always, you can reply to this email to send your suggestions,
thoughts, or comments to the whole group.

Changes have been made. The University of Louisville has been
inserted where appropriate. Also, Article IV, section 5 has been
changed with the red highlighted portion being the change.

Section 2.

The purposes of the organization shall be to 1) promote and practice
the open, rational, and scientific examination of the universe and our
place in it, ****2) and that ethics and morality can be meaningfully
based on rational and humanistic ideals and values, 3) promote
skeptical inquiry, 4) provide community for atheists, agnostics,
humanists, skeptics, naturalists and other freethinkers, 5) organize
activities, such as forums for discussion, guest speakers, and debates
that educate the University of Louisville and surrounding community,
6) foster acceptance of freethinkers, and 7) advocate for the
separation between church and state.

I don't have time to read the document in its entirety right now, but
upon reading Section 2, I immediately find grammatical errors. Purpose
#2 of section 2 should begin with some sort of verb.

The constitution has been updated with group name inserted. Also,
Article I, Section 2, number 2 has had the word "and" replaced with
"promote" to correct the missing verb that was pointed out.
