This year marks the Louise Brooks centenary. The anniversary is being
celebrated by the release of a new DVD and two new books, a museum
exhibit, screenings, and other events being held across the United
States and Europe. Here is a list of some of what's coming up:

April 20, 2006: The Rochester Historical Society will screen a Brooks'
film in Rochester, New York. Local film critic Jack Garner will give
introductory remarks.

April 25 - May 7, 2006: The Tribeca Film Festival in New York City will
be screening the rare silent version of Prix de Beauté.

May, 2006: A celebration of Brooks' 100th birthday, sponsored by the
Cherryvale Chamber of Commerce, will take place in Cherryvale, Kansas.

May 9, 2006: Diary of a Lost Girl will be screened in Austin, Texas as
part of the Austin Film Society's "3 Actresses Abroad: Anna May Wong,
Josephine Baker, and Louise Brooks" series.

May 16, 2006: Pandora's Box will be screened in Austin, Texas as part
of the Austin Film Society's "3 Actresses Abroad: Anna May Wong,
Josephine Baker, and Louise Brooks" series.

June 16 - June 29, 2006: A new 35mm print of Pandora's Box will be
shown at FilmForum in New York City.

July 15, 2006: A new 35mm print of Pandora's Box will be shown at the
historic Castro Theater, as part of the annual San Francisco Silent
Film Festival. Thomas Gladysz, director of the LBS, and
artist/filmmaker and one time Wichita, Kansas resident Bruce Conner
will introduce the film.

August 2006: "New Histories of Photography 11: Louise Brooks and the
New Woman in Weimar Cinema" opens at the George Eastman House in
Rochester, New York.

August 2006: The Louise Brooks Society celebrates 11 years online.
Special content will be added to the site to mark the anniversary.

September 2006: The Chicago-based Silent Theater company production of
Lulu will be staged in San Francisco.

Fall, 2006: Bristol Silents in Bristol, England will screen Brooks'
films - including the silent version of Prix de Beauté.

October 3 - 8, 2006: SEDICICORTO International Film Festival Forlì in
Italy takes place. A special category this year includes films relating
to Louise Brooks.

October 10, 2006: Rizzoli will publish Peter Cowie's new pictorial on
the actress, Louise Brooks: Lulu Forever. Events with the author are
planned for New York City, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and San
Francisco.

November 2006: Screenings of Brooks' films, and/or an event to
celebrate the publication of Peter Cowie's new book will take place in
San Francisco.

November 2006: The Chicago-based Silent Theater production of Lulu will
be staged in New York City.

November 2006: The Verlag Filmarchiv Austria plans to publish a new
book on Louise Brooks.

November 14, 2006: Portugal's Costa do Castelo Films plans to release
Pandora's Box. This two-disc set will feature the original Portugese
intertitles, as well as bonus material.

November 14, 2006: The Louise Brooks Centenary Radio Project, organized
by the LBS, takes place.

December 2006: "New Histories of Photography 11: Louise Brooks and the
New Woman in Weimar Cinema" opens at the International Center of
Photography in New York City. The exhibit runs through February, 2007.
