"Celebrating Louise Brooks: An Evening of Rare Films" with PETER COWIE
a talk, film screening & book signing for "Louise Brooks: Lulu Forever"

Sunday, November 12 at 7:30 pm
at the Balboa Theater (3630 Balboa Street) in San Francisco

On Sunday November 12th, world renown film critic and biographer Peter
Cowie, author of the just published "Louise Brooks: Lulu Forever," will
give a talk as part of "Celebrating Louise Brooks: An Evening of Rare
Films" at the Balboa Theater (3630 Balboa Street) in San Francisco.
Rare films, special guests, door prizes, Louise Brooks give-aways and
more will round out the program, which starts at 7:30. A book signing
will follow. More info at http://www.balboamovies.com/

"You are the only person I know who speaks the truth to me," Louise
Brooks once wrote to the author of "Louise Brooks: Lulu Forever."
Cowie, who will be joining us from his home in Switzerland, is a world
famous film historian and the author of some thirty books including
"The Cinema of Orson Welles," "John Ford and the American West," and
"Revolution!: The Explosion Of World Cinema In The Sixties," as well as
acclaimed biographies of Ingmar Bergman and Francis Ford Coppola. This
special event, co-sponsored by The Booksmith (http://www.booksmith.com)
and the Louise Brooks Society, will take place at the historic Balboa
Theater (3630 Balboa) in San Francisco. Tickets are $8.50 and can be
purchased in advance on http://www.BrownPaperTickets.com

Two brief articles about this event have already shown up in the local
media. Author and local film critic Mick LaSalle issued a short article
at

for the "San Francisco Chronicle." And the two area Louise Brooks
screenings were the pick of the week on the SFGate website - see

Louise Brooks Birthday Bash
a raucous celebration
Tuesday, November 14th at 7:00 p.m.
Victoria Theater (2961 16th Street) in San Francisco

This special event includes a screening of a rare film, live music,
birthday cake, refreshments and festivities with the cast and crew of
"Lulu" - followed by a 10 p.m. staging of the Wedekind play done as a
silent film a la Louise Brooks in "Pandora's Box." If you haven't
already seen the Silent Theater Company's dramatic homage to Lulu,
here's your chance. This should be a lot of fun. More info at
