Lockeland Art needs you! Every art teacher in Metro is being asked to create a school wide display to honor the artist Dale Chihuly (whose work is on display through the end of October at Cheekwood, and the Frist Center.) Our "Chihuly Inspired" installation is going to be awesome. Two parents are needed from each class to help make it happen. All you need to do is stop by the art room and pick up some vinyl records. The records need to be softened in your oven (at 250 degrees) and shaped into "bowls." Be aware that when the records are heated that they release some chemicals that could be harmful. These are similar chemicals to any plastic material that you have in your home such as plastic water bottles, toys, or kitchen utensils. It will be important to ventilate the area that you are working in well. Once the vinyl records return to room temperature they are safe for the children to work with. The children will paint these and we will display them in the hallway along with lights and other shapes. For more information please contact: Ms. Camilla at: Lockel...@gmail.com
