If a snow emergency plan for Howard County is in effect at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sunday, or on a day when schools are closed for students, all community programs and activities scheduled to take place in school facilities are canceled.  Should the snow emergency plan go into effect after 7:00 a.m., programs and activities that are in progress may be completed.  All programs scheduled to begin after the time that the snow emergency plan went into effect are cancelled. 

Groups are under no obligation to hold activities in the event that schools are open for community and school use during inclement weather.  If the user group wishes to cancel prior to or during an activity, they may do so without penalty upon notification to the Use of School Facilities Office.  The user group is responsible for notifying the participants.


THIS PERMIT MUST BE PRESENT AT ALL TIMES WHILE ACTIVITY IS IN PROGRESS!

Per Policy 5100 Health Services, HCPSS will supply overdose reversing medication in accordance with state law.  The HCPSS Overdose Response Program ensures that overdose reversing medication is stored and accessible in each school.  The medication, along with use instructions, can be found in a defibulator box in all HCPSS facilities to be administered to an individual experiencing or believed to be experiencing an overdose. Prior to your facility reservation date, please contact the building administrator for the location of the designated AED box.

Samsung Galaxy Note7 smartphones are no longer allowed on school property. The lithium-ion battery in the Galaxy Note7 smartphone can overheat and catch fire, posing serious fire and burn hazard to consumers.

ALERT: For any public assembly where 250 or more persons are anticipated, the using organization is required to have one certified adult crowd manager present for every 250 people as specified by the Howard County Fire Marshal. The Howard County Crowd Manager Course is a classroom training program taught by the Department of Fire and Rescue Services (DFRS). Since Fire Codes vary by county, the only acceptable program is the class taught by DFRS.

During the school session, Energy turns on an hour before each school's start time and ends at time of dismissal. If you require Energy for after school activities, please add (subject to additional fee) to the appropriate booking(s) online. As of January 2015, Energy not previously requested online may incur a HVAC Tech fee (minimum 4 hours/$60/hr) for late energy requests if technician is required.

No tech services provided for Auditorium use beyond house lights up/down; stage lights up/down. No access to sound/lighting booth. This applies to all high schools with the exception of JRT @Wilde Lake High.

Use of High School athletic areas is with the understanding that school practices, games, and matches will be completed prior to community group use.

Please note: food and beverage consumption is NOT allowed in any classroom areas. This is because of the increasing number of individuals who have serious allergic reactions to certain foods and beverages and is strictly enforced.
