Regrettably I have to vote 'no' on the seismic testing. For only $800
to the club, there are too many questions, such as the impact on use
of the range. Further, the club is in some sort of transition with
many issues in the process of being resolved. Dealing with the gas
exploration right now, although worthy long-term I believe, is just
one more burden on the Club's leadership.
I have been a member (#413) for a number of years, I almost feel my
opinion should not count. Yes, I paid $16 (a bargain) to use the
range. Nevertheless, I have never attended a meeting or helped out.
I say this from the point of view of a person that does donate a ton
of volunteer time to the shooting sports. I serve as the President of
the International Benchrest Shooters. So I know the demands on
volunteers and dealing with club politics. I also belong to the
Sulphyr Springs Rifle and Revolver Club in Clarkstown, just east of
Muncy. I usual tune my rifles there because of the quality of the
benches (14 covered concrete benches on a slab). Don't take that as a
slam against LTSC! For $16 I get a place to shoot my pistols and
maybe some rimfire plinking. I am grateful for a place nearby to
shoot. Would I like to see the LTSC shooting facilities improve?
Sure would.
To that end, I would be happy to assist LTSC where I am able. I say
that in reference to my involvement with other shooting organizations.
