Hello, I have a use case where I need to position the X3-H in a static position and have it record/capture points to measure a passing object. Then I need to be able to replay and extract measurements (relative is fine).  I have already determined how to manually start LiDAR capture to a Project file using the web interface, but it's writing to a .vpts file (in the LidarRaw folder) that I cannot open and view as points over time.

This is a function I'm able to do with my VLP-16 and VLP-32 systems, and I apparently would be able to do it with a normal (bare) Livox Avia sensor, but the GVI firmware must be encoding the raw point/packet capture.

Can anyone assist with options to make this work?  Thanks!

Hi Warren,

Thank you for leaving a message in the LiAir product forum.

Since the LiAir X3-H uses the PPK (post-processing) solution instead of RTK, the raw point cloud has to be processed in the LiGeoreference software. Also, processing the trajectory in LiGeoreference requires differential processing between the rover data and base station data. Therefore, please make sure you collect base station data that covers the scanning.

Thanks Alvin, but what I'm looking for is a way to see the raw points over time, without the geolocation or processing.  Like I said, I can do this with my VLP-16 by simply recording the packets via ethernet and playing them back. The particular project I'm doing doesn't need any georeferencing.  Is it possible to get this packet output from the X3 unit?  Do I need a special firmware or cable to access the raw packets of LiDAR points?

Hi Warren,

You may download a software called Livox Viewer from this link: https://www.livoxtech.com/avia/downloads

Then, connect the X3-H to your computer by using a type-c cable and you should be able to view the point cloud in real-time in Livox Viewer software.

When using the X3-H for this purpose, please DO NOT connect the device to the GNSS antennas.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best,
