LiAir VH2 Sony ILCE-5100 Camera Issue

Hello,

May I ask how to fix the issue with our LiAir VH2 LiDAR that comes with the Sony ILCE-5100 camera? Every time I conduct an aerial survey, the camera stops functioning mid-air and displays a warning saying: “Writing to the memory card was not completed correctly. Recover data?”

I have already formatted the SD card using the camera, but the issue still persists.

Hi Mr/Ms,

There are two ways to resolve this issue:

1. If the data writing process is incomplete, select "Recover Data" instead of formatting.

2. If the data has already been formatted and this prompt appears again, select "Cancel Recovery".

Unfortunately, the suggested steps did not resolve the issue with our payload; the camera error persists during every aerial survey.

Could you please provide further troubleshooting assistance?

Is the error message appearing immediately upon startup, or is there an error within the data being collected? 

If this message were present, the camera status light should be red every time the camera is powered on, and it shouldn't suddenly appear during data collection.

We recommend conducting ground-based data acquisition rather than aerial measurements(avoid flying into the air). Connect the camera to an external monitor and take a photo of the camera screen with the camera powered on. Additionally, photos of the software status should also be taken.

Thank you for the additional troubleshooting steps.

To clarify, the LiAir VH2 payload appears to initialize normally, with all indicator lights turning steady blue. The error message ("Writing to the memory card was not completed correctly. Recover data?") does not appear immediately upon startup.

The issue arises during the aerial survey:

1. The RGB camera (Sony ILCE-5100) suddenly stops capturing images mid-air.

2. The LiDAR continues to function and collect data.

3. The error message only appears when we land and connect the camera to an external monitor for review.

This camera failure during flight prevents us from colorizing the point cloud data.

We will try to perform the ground-based data acquisition test you requested and send the photos and videos of the camera and software status as soon as possible.
