So any ideas the easiest quickest and bestest way for me to start a
video blog?

Also I would love to have other videos in the future that I distribute
thru the web.

Any ideas on more gooder ways then just posting them at my site.

Best way I can think of is to use RSS enclosures (aka podcast).

It allows people to subscribe to your video blog, and the client will
automatically download the new videos when they are posted. Some
clients also have bittorrent support built in. It's been mostly used
for mp3, but it just usually passes the file to winamp, or media player
or whatever, so video files should work just fine.

I know a number of ways, some much easier than others. Let me do some
quick research, and I'll post a few links later tonight.

Andy.

Ok, I've come up with a couple of methods for your video blog, each with
their own pros and cons (these all assume you will be using RSS w/
enclosures):

1. Use a website package that supports RSS enclosures natively. The
only one I've used that has this cabability is Drupal (
http:/www.drupal.org/ ), but I've been using it for years. MoveableType
(among others) has some plugin to do it too.
Pro: really easy once it's set up... just make a post on the website,
and attach a video. Also, posts are readable by humans as well as
automatically downloadable by a podcast client.
Con: have to commit to using a whole PHP websystem. Hosting site must
support php4 and mysql. Configuration can get confusing (but I can help
there, if you want).

2. Upload the videos, and the RSS files yourself. This involves
creating an XML file (by hand, or using a generator) to describe the
videos that are available
Pro: simple on the publishing side. any webhosting service can do it.
Con: error-prone. not easy to post new content. very difficult to post
archives of old content. Have to generate complex XML file yourself
using a generator.

3. Use Blogger/TypePad/Wordpress to publish your RSS stuff. Videos
will still have to be hosted by you.
Pro: don't have to worry about the XML stuff.
Con: sounds like a lot of trouble and work to set up

Note: there are probably other ways of doing this, but these seemed the
most straightforward.

Cheers,
Andy.

YOU ROCK.

I will let you know you might want to look at this
www.ContactJuggling.com/mambo
The Gallery and a few other things aren't working correctly yet.

Yeah, I run mambo for my sister's website. The php shop functionality
is pretty good. Other than the shop, I didn't really like it very
much. I found it very confusing. Drupal's my favourite system so far.
Pretty flexible, and looks good.

I should have mentioned this site too... http://www.opensourcecms.com/
is a demo site for all sorts of content management systems (like Mambo
or Drupal). They give you admin access so you can try out all the
features (the database is reset every hour, so you don't have to worry
about screwing anything up).

Thanks for the link.
I have done a ton of research since the original CJDotCom was hacked.
It was on a PHP Nuke base.
Since then I have been GUN SHY to start a new community site because
of the hacking.
The features of Mambo are confusing at times.
But this is what I like about it,
I like the ease of use.
I love the fact each user can have their own page. -Add On-
I hate the gallery right now. -Add On- I actually love this gallery
just not the way it is working.
I like the added features like RSS feed. That is why I posted it
because you had mentioned that. I would love CJers to be able to post
a news Story about CJ and have it RSS fed to whoever wants it. To
that end it could be an audio blog, video blog, or for the
professional a BUSK, virtual of course.
Last but not least Mambo is very modular so many people are adding to
it all the time.(this is both good and bad, remember the hacking)

If I can get the gallery figured out I will be happy enough to go live.
I want to create something different from DotOrg with a good community
look and feel. I also am trying to avoid duplication. So I will
probably not have a forum for a while.
I will fix the old BlastWiki I call it CJBlast. Go back before the
ULTRA Hack. This was a natural and yet malicious thing. True Wikis
are very vunerable to hacking.
I will post up the LegacyCd static and Dynamic.

Lots of stuff to do for DotCom but it will be worth it when it is a
community again.
I want to create a way for LegacyCd Legacy Ball and all Legacy Project
people to share information and be able to get together. Not to
mention all other Contact Jugglers and Dynamic Manipulator and
SpherePlayers and Whatever us Ball freaks call themselves.
The goal of CJDotCom is to allow people who want to watch, learn, or
hire CJers a place to do this.

Any help using Mambo, Drupal or any other system is greatly appreciated.
What Drupal features do you think drew you to it?
