Please Please Please take some time and read this thread. It will help
grow the Legacy Project better than any other thread this week.

Okay so I have just looked at the feature set and modules for Drupal.
And I started a new thread because of it.
WOW.
Go Drupal Go.

Since the Legacy Project needs a home I need to help find it one.
I can put it at my personal site but that don't make much sense because
it is Contact Juggling specific. My personal site is strictly VANITY
and to get me work and promote my projects like the Legacy Project as
time goes on. I am an artist with more than one skill I think?!? And
this Project is Contact Juggling specific.

So since I need a place and I got(good engliz) CJdotCom for a way to
promote CJ in the world I think that is the best place. Since the
Legacy Project is my brain child right now I get to make that choice.
That doesn't mean I don't want to hear from you guys just that I
probably won't listen, huh what you say? So the Legacy Project will be
residing at http://www.ContactJuggling.com, it is actually there right
now or at least the table of contents.

If you get a chance stop by www.ContactJuggling.com and see it in
action or disaction. Over time the server it is on has had issues.
The site has therefore suffered. So it is full of "Hacked" and other
such nonsense. That is why I am looking for a new Community site to
help revive and allow it to grow. Oh and the gallery was busted last
time I checked, that was a server thingy too.

I always wanted CJDotCom to allow new people to learn, people that want
to watch to watch and see stuff, and people that wanted to meet CJers a
way to meet them either to hang out or hire to work. CJ is a
performance art but there are no deviantART categories for CJ, yet.

Here is CJDotCom's current Philosophy
What is Contact Juggling?
Contact Juggling Dot Com was created to help answer this question in
the world.
We want to help everyone that is interested in Contact Juggling. Help
you see it. Help you learn it. Help grow it around the world.
To help grow Contact Juggling around the world Contact Juggling Dot Com
is designed to help the beginner learn, the professional make a living,
and the fan watch it.
Hopefully you will find something that interests you here.
Please help grow Contact Juggling in the world by signing up and
joining in the fun here at Contact Juggling Dot Com.
Contact Juggling is known by many names these days including,
SpherePlay(tm), Orb Manipulation, and a wide range of other names.
Have a Great Day.

Features I think the site needs or must have
-A Gallery that people can post images and videos directly into. Needs
to link to off site locations as well.
-News or a way for people to post up ideas. I would like this feature
to email daily to people that want a daily update. Or an easy way for
people to see it every day. Like a good combo RSS feed and RSS feed
reader type thing. If we use RSS we could have a tutorial on "Getting"
your "CJ Stuff" everyday by using an RSS reader.
-Profiles for Users so Professionals and Semi Pros can promote
themselves
-Banners
-A way for me to put BlastWiki "into" the site, like a frames thing. I
can always just make it a link from the main site but I would like
visitors to feel they are in the same place at all times. Oh and I
could switch to a new Wiki I just like BlastWiki since it is freely
redistributable, super light weight on coding, quick, easy, but I can
be swayed. This is the basis of the LegacyCd database. Which you may
have seen or not seen on your LegacyCd
-Links So people can see all the other sites that have CJ on them
-Events This way people can better get together
-Location of CJers so you don't live 2 miles from a guy for 3 years and
never get together
-Email a friend. I always thought this was a great way to have people
cross promote your site for you.
-FAQ(Frequently Asked Questions), I have had a FAQ since day one of
CJdotCom. I don't like it right now and I would like a dynamicly
updatable FAQ that could automatically or easily translate to a txt
FAQ. So this URL could be a permanent one,
http://www.ContactJuggling.com/ContactJugglingFAQ.txt Contact Juggling
FAQ
I think this is it.

You might not be technically minded but check out this
page(http://drupal.org/project/Modules) and read the stuff you can add
to Drupal. It will give you an idea of what is possible on a
"Community" site. What features would you find useful and would you
use?
If we don't have a place to share ideas and things that is ours it
could go away.
I don't think google will disappear anytime soon BUT we also don't own
google. So if they decided they didn't like us we could go away. Then
we would have no place to post up silly things like this, hehehehehe.

I'll talk from the point-of-view of a longtime Drupal user... some of
these are easy to do, some are difficult to set up, or difficult to use.

I've never tried putting videos into Drupal. The video module is very
new. However, if you don't mind downloading the video before watching,
the Drupal base will work, with it's file-attachment system.

By the way, RSS support is integrated into Firefox (aka Live Bookmarks),
Opera, and MS just announced that it's going into the next version of
Internet Explorer (with Longhorn). Should make things a lot more
accessible.

There's some modules that allow for wiki-like behaviour in drupal--see
the Wiki and Freelinking modules. The Wiki module is for wiki-style
text formatting, where Freelinking is for the CamelCase or [[Bracketed]]
links to other nodes (by title).

>-Links So people can see all the other sites that have CJ on them
>

The Drupal weblinks module kinda sucks right now. It's in the process
of being rewritten, and I rather don't like it. You used to be able to
see a directory listing of the weblinks, but now you have to use another
module to list them. This makes a bit of sense, in the Drupal design
scheme, but I find it annoying to use, as you have to go into the full
description of the weblink to be able to follow the link.

>-Events This way people can better get together
>

Integrated into the Drupal calendar, I believe? Might be an
event.module. Haven't used it, admittedly.

>-Location of CJers so you don't live 2 miles from a guy for 3 years and

I don't know how the location.module support works. Sounds like it'd
take a while to set up, but once it's done, you'd be able to put in a
zip or postal code, and do the proximity searches no problem.

>-Email a friend. I always thought this was a great way to have people

Doesn't look supported out of the box. Would take some work (but
probably not too much).

Drupal has the "Collaborative Book" functionality, which is sort of like
a wiki with a directory tree. You could easily use this for your FAQ
(and in fact, that's what Drupal uses for it's own FAQ and manual).

Drupal can be a bit confusing, admittedly, but it's a good system, and
very powerful. I'm definitely willing to help out, if you decide that
Drupal is right for CJ.com. BTW, if something is really important,
and not supported, I do have some familiarity with php--I can probably
cobble some things together (just don't have the time to write a
websystem from scratch).

If you want to poke around at a drupal site, check out mine at

Cheers,
Andy.

I will start some prework on it.
Check it out.
Set it up somewhere if I can.

Gallery2 does not do video I don't think. Which sucks but that is life.

If I set it up somewhere I will email you privately with information
so you can poke around on it.

Oh and I will check your site out some more in the next few days.
